Olle, Goldenbaum also has a knitting series set at the seaside. I haven't started that one yet.

I bought Plum Spooky on an impulse. Plus it was 40% off, so that helped.

Is anyone else annoyed that books are stretched to look longer? In most books I pick up, the line spacing is huge as is the font size.

Oh, no, Jill. Amazon should continue to do just fine.

Which reminds me -- both a co-worker and I read in the past week or so that when economic times get tough, people read more. Wonder if that will continue to be true in the coming year or so? (We are also bother wondering where we read this but that's another topic altogether.)

Hey! I found an ARC of Sea of Poppies at my UBS. Neato!

I did get a second book for Christmas, but it is not a novel. My lovely dd gave me a french sewing book, Home Sewn. It is full of the cozy textiles that I love. I already ran out and got some linen to make some embroidered napkins.

The library notified me that my copy of The Man That Time Forgot by Isaiah Wilner for my f2f group. It's a non-fiction story of the birth of Time Magazine and no, it wasn't only Henry Luce who founded this, it was a man named Britton Haddon who led an eventful but short life before his mysterious and tragic death at 31 who was Luce's partner. Luce managed to downplay Haddon's role to the extent that it comes as a surprise to most people (me!) to hear about it. More later after...

Although I commented last week that most UBS around here have closed, I forgot about the one right here on campus! A quick stop there yesterday and I brought home two hardcover PD James novels for $1 each. Also received one copy of the new Wally Lamb in the mail yesterday -- too bad I can't remember the names of any of these, isn't it?

Hi Sherry, I actually got the book for my husband who LOVED Birdsong and Rites of Spring..... although I know I'll read it too. I've heard lots about it. I have to wait until Christmas though because it's one of his presents! Think that's why I got a few extras to tide me over.... :)

Geez Louise -- it seems I somehow managed to order the new Wally Lamb book from Amazon -- twice! I've received two messages from them today telling me it's being shipped -- with different tracking numbers; the second order includes an additional book, as well. How on earth did I manage to do that?

Couldn't see our adding to Mt TBR thread so started a new one for 2008.
