10/20/09 09:22 PM	Jenn, wonderful news, keep doing it! I used weight watchers to take off 20 lbs several years ago and I find I still use their method even now. I don't log everything but I still do the program in my head. Since my younger daughter moved out to go to college that tipped the vegetarian/carnivore scale in this house so now the carnivores are demanding more meat, yuck, I guess I'm going to have to cook a separate meal for me. My kids have also got me hooked on this dumb 'farm' game on Face Book, I'm actually competing with them for points! Nothing on Earth so beautiful as the final haul on Halloween night. Steve Almond

10/21/09 12:04 PM	Ok, attempt 2- it's so annoying when Yuku just dumps a post. Tom- I got started on Face Book because of my childhood from Montreal. Now I use it to keep in contact with my relatives and friends all over Canada and the US. I keep it selective, I don't strive for a big list, just a friendly list. My mom was telling that some people are getting trouble at their work because of inappropriate comments, duh, some people just don't know enough to keep work and personal separate. I must say, one positive advantage of being the Secret Santa coordinator is I feel like I'm getting to know some of you even better. I've resisted this far and have yet to have a desire to try it but if everyone starts talking about it I may have to. My current dilemma is curtains....I've decided since we've lived in this house for almost 4 months its time to get curtains up. We have blinds in all the rooms and the 2 spare bedrooms and living room came with curtains that I actually like and will keep for now. I'm working on the master bedroom, family room, and kitchen. Boy are things confusing and expensive! The rods that are up in our bedroom have a regular curtain rod then a thick plastic rectangle rod like thing that protrudes out. I figured out that is for the valence but am having so much trouble finding valences that have a rod pocket big enough. Are these rods for a particular kind of valence? They are also up in one of the spare bedrooms but the previous owner just hung tabbed curtains from them, works for me there. Courtney Currently reading: Private Papers of Eastern Jewel

10/21/09 11:15 PM BCC ZEN Bookie MASTER	Pbee: My mother's family also traces back to Quebec as well although in my case, it was a lot longer back than when you came to the US (I want to say the 1870's although I am the first generation that has not spoken any French). The specific towns would be Trois-Rivières and also Henryville which is right off the main way between Montreal and Burlington VT. This contact I caught up with is in Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu which is also along the same route.

The study, which also assumed earlier and more-widespread vaccination than has turned out to be the case, predicted that about 60 percent of the U.S. population will be infected and one-quarter will fall ill." I hear there have been 380 cases on my campus already (residential population of about 2500). Karen Don't know what I'm currently reading... between books for a minute.

I don't know whether the wave of respiratory illnesses we've all had and heard so much about from friends is related, ie mild cases of this flu. If so, maybe it is peaking. Fingers crossed we all get through this, along with our families and loved ones.

My son says there are 12 cases of swine at his college, one on his floor. I wonder if I would be so nervous if not for "The Last Town on Earth" There are 2 cases of whooping cough in my district too. Now that is strange.

It must be challenging to work in a school and not see all the kids as potential typhoid Marys, poor things. Hope you all escape it. This new med doesn't seem to work the way the Advair did--it seems to wear off before the next dose is due, which is strange because it's a much higher dose than what I was taking with the Advair (which I took once a day vs two puffs twice a day for the Symbicort). Well, I'll give it another day or two and then let the doc know.
