Who here plays Farmville? I need more Farmville "friends" to get a bigger farm. Mine is getting very crowded. :)

At least one of the Kiwi ladies does and I think Courtney, too. Two of my 'girls' do -- do you want to 'friend' them?
Although we had a pretty good turnout for Halloween, we didn't have nearly as many trick-or-treaters as hubby thought we would for a Saturday night. In other words, we have obscene amounts of candy left over. Caught a snippet of something on the news last night about candy being collected and bagged somewhere with notes and pics from little kids for shipping to troops in Iraq, Afghanistan, etc. I should try to find out more about that...

Karen that's a great idea. I saw something locally about a Halloween candy 'buy back' that I think was to help get rid of the sugar.

"Oh Betsy, 32 hours in the car! yuky. Bet your hiney is glad you are home." said Mary
No kidding, Ms Mary! Why does Uncle Sam do this to families like ours anyway? I like Karen's idea of modern transport! Why don't we have those superfast trains like the one we took in China? That would really make our lives simpler!

Re my car drama... I've been going to this dealer for about 10 years, and there have been many times when they haven't charged me near what they
could've (one example, the time my "check engine" light came on because my gas cap was loose.. they could've charged me a $95 diagnostic fee
but didn't)
I just want my vroombaby back healthy (I'm also springing for new shoes for her since her current set is totally skanked out) The disadvantage of having someone I trust is that it's allowed me to not add auto information to my skill set; when it comes to cars, anything past gas milage and all I hear is Charlie Brown's teacher (wha whon WHA whoe whan woan). Anyone got suggestions for resources for an automotive illiterate? Oh, and on the flu scene... our diocese has officially (for the moment) stopped the communal use of chalices (chalice now at the altar only) and encouraging gestures (waves, peace-signs) instead of handshakes/hugs during the "Sign of Peace" at Mass -- I had no idea it was that bad here, no one I personally know has come down with ANY kind of flu so far. |

Jen, I think it's as much about paranoia as anything else right now. And my recommendation for the automotive illiterate? Marry a car guy. Not only do you
learn a lot, but you don't have to deal with it anymore. (That's what I did and it's mostly worked out o.k.)
I've been lusting after a pair of Sorel boots called Joan of Arctic for at least the past year; went and bought them for myself today -- you just never know when it's going to snow again! Got home and hubby told me he'd been planning to get them for me this coming week for my birthday. *sigh* Who knew?

Karen, I have your birthday as Nov 18th, is that wrong?
I think your diocese is being smart Jenn. There's no reason not to take precautions, who wants even a mild case? So many people are resisting unnecessarily as though it's a macho thing to dismiss it. Even my own kiddo out in Seattle says he doesn't believe in the flu vaccine. Sigh. So frustrating considering the grandkids. I'm not in a panic at all, but I do think precautions are a great idea. Being sick sucks. I am so so sick of the rain here. Arrrgh. The ground is so wet, even Kanga doesn't want to get off the porch steps onto the carpet of soggy leaves. Ick.

Sandra, I asked dd to add you in Farmville, but she already has the biggest farm possible and so many friends that the game won't allow her to add more. OY

Sandra, you might not thank me if you knew my daughter-in-law...
Jill, yes, that's the date, but payday was Friday... ;) Jill's right, nothing wrong with taking precautions. I'm finding myself more and more aware of what I'm touching and realizing that if it's gonna get me, it's gonna get me. It's virtually impossible not to touch germy surfaces and I unconsciously rub my nose and eyes all the time!

I have not heard any diocesan policy changes in IL yet, but I did note that there was no reception of wine last night here in Chicago. The pastor in Champaign
a couple weeks ago told people that there were no policy changes yet there, but that they should not be offended if someone doesn't want to shake
hands--that's me all the time actually. I look at it this way--I have a coworker who has a 4 month old and don't want to carry H1N1 to her not to
mention I don't want it either!

November? Sneaks up on me every year. Run for your lives turkeys!!
Oooh Karen, you broke the rule of buying yourself something when a birthday was imminent. :) Easy to forget if you have a dh like mine who is horrribible at getting gifts. Jill, can't wait to hear what her reaction is to you when you contact her on Monday. Bet she's wishing she had your phone number! Or did you have to turn that off, too? Mary, think the dd will eventually go back into the coffee shop? Once enough time goes by? Hard to beat the right location with good brew. How is Rose doing at her new school? |

That's exactly why I didn't give it a thought! Usually I have to actually write it down for him and tell him where to get it -- who would have imagined he'd actually paid attention this time?

Olle, there are turkeys near my parents' house; and they do disappear every November.
Karen, Nov. 18 was my grandma's birthday. Remember, Scorpios are smart, talented, good-looking, and extremely modest (hee hee).
