I knew there was a reason to read the acknowledgements. Still, I rarely do. So, I thought Louise was responsible for the poetry.

I am reading this now. I got my copy from Olle and am happy to pass it on. Does anyone still need it? I will be finished in about a week. Maybe less if I can
get my stupid homework finished. Stupid stupid homework, but that is for another thread.

I am loving this one now that we are back in Three Pines........
One paragraph rang so true with me - where she describes the feeling at the end of the summer vacation, getting ready for a new term: The mix of sadness at the end of the summer, and excitement to see his chums again. The new clothes, bought after a summer's growth. The new pencils, sharpened over and over, and the smell of the shavings. And the new notebooks. Always strangely thrilling. Unmarred. No mistakes yet. All they held was promise and potential. Spot on Louise!

Nice to know that's such a universal feeling isn't it? I watched HISTORY BOYS last night and one of the things the beloved older teacher pointed out
was that one of the great joys of reading is finding on the page something you thought only you felt/experienced/thought--like hands reaching out to touch
yours. This was a similar moment, wasn't it?

Thanks Rema,
taken as a whole it meant something different than just the last stanza didn't it? the last stanza could refer to Annie/lion but the whole made me think of the totem poles or the sphinx or some other image. |

No Karen, there weren't enough of us who could commit to make it worthwhile. Anyone change their mind?

oh that's a shame.....perhaps its getting a bit close to the end of the year now, everyone's busy leading up to xmas and all that....perhaps Louise
would like a chat with us in the New Year?? It may suit others then too.

That would be fine if we can rally enough folks--what do you think...7 or 8 people actually at the chat should be enough.

I loved it. It was so good to be back in Three Pines, and reading TBT was akin to eating chocolate - real comfort food! Also liked the slightly ambiguous
ending..... sorry to have missed the chat, but I've read the log, and all the points I'd thought about came up for discussion - especially the one
regarding Beauvoir and the lion at the end...... spookily I had underlined in my book the very same paragraph which you quoted in the Who Dun It thread - great
emotional detectives, aren't we?

I looked for it on iTunes last night but it doesn't have that particular song on it. I'll have to give a listen to some of the other tunes to see if we
like.
