So is Children of God, the sequel to The Sparrow. Just waiting for payday... Edwards all from Amazon, and Mr Lincoln's Wars by Adam Braver and Eat, Pray, Love by Elizabeth Gilbert from Costco. Clearly I've blown my New Year's resolution yet again... 02/08/08 12:53 PM BCC ZEN Bookie MASTER	Well, I'm having the same issue with library books, Jill, so I have no idea when I'll get to it. But whenever that happens, I'll let you know. Forgot to mention the two ARCs I've recently received from Library Thing: Firefly Lane by Kristin Hannah and The Girl With No Shadow by Joanne Harris. As to the first one, I don't even remember requesting it and was never told I would be receiving it. It's really long and getting pretty horrible reviews at LT so, I dunno... As to the second, I'll probably start that after I finish Evening, if that ever happens. I feel like I should do a quick re-read of Chocolat first, since this one is a sequel and I remember so little of Chocolat. The Girl With No Shadow was published under a different name in the UK and NZ. I think it was The Lollipop Shoes... Something like that. I wish I were in the middle of a great book right now. I can't seem to get going in just one, and with being so busy, I know it would be great to have part of a story under my belt so that when I pick it up I can read one or two pages. Ya know? 02/11/08 10:14 PM BCC Zen Bookie Master	I agree with you, Mary. Still, I know a couple of otherwise "sane" people who simply don't want books cluttering up their homes!! It's not a matter of space limitations either, just personal preference. I think houses look undressed with no books in any of the rooms. What say you all? Agree or not? I know that Jodi's apt isn't large enough to house a library but what about the average house? Oh and Curt read that Amazon can't keep the "Kinder" in stock; they're selling so well! Another article he read said that in a certain amt of time, books as we know them will disappear! Many of us love the smell and feel of paper books in our hot, little hands. Our libraries will consist of hand held devices they tell us. How about that, BBers?! Betsy

02/11/08 10:44 PM BCC ZEN Bookie MASTER	I wouldn't like that at all, Betsy. I'm like you in feeling that a house isn't complete without books on shelves somewhere. Even my husband, the avid NON-reader, likes the look of all my books on the shelves downstairs. Although I'm not sure I really appreciate his comment about it -- he said something about it giving a "snooty" appearance! Like I said before, something like Kindle would be handy in certain situations, while traveling for example, but the price is way too high right now for me to consider it. If it had been available for, let's say, $100 last year about this time I might have purchased one to take with me on that long summer trip last year; books just add a lot of weight in the suitcase, ya know?
