I can't really rate this one as it was about a year ago that I read it and the recollections aren't that clear or fresh. I remember I liked the
writing, the storytelling... but not so much the characters or the story. Sorry!

I think it was well written and still is relevant in today's society. I don't think I will recomend it to any one but still a 2 from me.

Giving this some objective thought, the book itself was only a 2.75, because I wouldn't recommend it to too many. It was definitely a
period piece but I liked Maugham's honest approach to Kitty's flaws.
BUT the discussion was a 4--that I really enjoyed.

For me, the book barely scrapes a 2.

I'll rate it a 2.75 and would recommend to others, especially those who have never read Maugham before and are willing to sample his work.

I'm going to give it a 3. I'm not sure if it would have been that high if I had read it on my own and not discussed it with the bunchers.

I'm going with a 3.5 for this one. I tried to look back and find my rating in my book journal but I couldn't find it with a quick scan. Perhaps I
forgot to write it down. I really enjoyed the book and both discussions I participated in. It's amazing how much of this story has stuck with me after the
passage of time. I definitely want to read more of Maugham.

Rating: 3. Complex characters that had to be thought about. It helped that we had a great discussion too.

just my personal opinion, but I don't think it would appeal to teens too much. there are too many other goodies
