2.7 I think without the addition of the pictures it would get a lower score from me, it's amazing me as I sit here thinking about it but they added more
than I initially thought in keeping characters straight.

Make it a 3 for me. I read it in between the 2 vacations when my brain was going crazy and yet I still remember lots of details and enjoyed it, so that must
say something!

2.8. Liked it at first, but all the characters and the family tree eventually wore me down.

Make mine a 3.25
The pictures really did add a lot for me too. Remarkable particularly sticks in my mind. The modern story did far less for me than the histories and the progression of tracking down the dad, but I really enjoyed 90% of the read.

2.6. I liked it more while I was reading it. As time went by more quibbles cropped up!

A solid 3 from me. Willie wore on my nerves a bit but to this day, I miss Glimmey.

I'm going to rate it a 3.5. I really enjoyed the history, however, I did get lost with the family tree. It was an enjoyable read, and while the daddy
search was a bit weird, it was cute when they did meet. What a nice guy.

2.75...its grown on me retrospectively. After I had finished it, I wasn't so keen, but now I feel different about it.

Interesting Chris, what parts echoed for you? I've had this happen to me with other books, usually when certain parts keep coming back.

I think it was the overall framework in which the stories were told and how the myths came to merge with Willie in the present -how we individually find out who we are though our family history, if we're lucky enough to have had ancestors that wrote and kept diaries, letters etc, or strong story-tellers. One thing that I wondered about - why didn't her mum reveal the father's name instead of sending Willie on a fox-hunt - was there a reason given for that - I don't remember. Chris, she did give a reason that had to do with Willie's being able to accept the information--I'll have to see if I can find it.
LOL no wonder with this typo: thaaccepott --my cursor jumps to a different line sometimes and I typed "accept" in the middle of "that" but it took me staring for a while to figure it out. Geeesh

someonegetchristine wrote: Chris, I found it on p 42 of my edition. Vi says it wouldn't be "fair" to the father for Vi to tell her. So she gives her one clue after
Willie went ballistic, thinking Willie simply wouldn't be able to figure it out from that hint. Considering what we find out later about the father's
contribution, I can see why Vi felt that way. I think, but can't prove, that Vi said something later on about it being more meaningful to Willie if she
traces it herself, maybe to give her an appreciation of the lineage that Vi is so proud of?

Vi also said something later on about "knowing" Willie would figure it out. I think she just wanted Willie to have something to do other than mope
around.

I thought Vi did it so Willie would have something to occupy her time, like Deb said above. I still think that's why. LOL

... Such that it is, lol. I'd give Monsters of Templeton a solid 3. I'd type a tad more, but just
got a new laptop as a present and really struggling to get used to this type of keyboard! I am SO behind the "electronic technology times". (And it
took me about five minutes, with lots of backspaces to type just that! I refuse to be defeated with this. I only "cheat" with the numbers, LOL!
Ok, ok... sometimes the punctuation marks too!)
