I have to give it a 2 even though I wouldn't recommend it to anyone I can think of. It did make me think, and chuckle, and I had fun with the ending.

yes, a 2 from me as well.
Could only recommend to a die-hard Saramago fan and rarely come across any of those - however I'm glad I read it. Midwives help people out.

soooo hard to read.

I'm going to say a 1. I would rate the first half a 2 due to all the thought provoking ideas and the second half a 0.5, didn't like the cellist story.
