I hope it doesn't end up feeling that way for me!
It finally snowed here over the weekend. Wouldn't you know it would wait until *after* we came back from Mexico?

I can relate--I was lucky to catch a cancellation that someone else had made and get back to Champaign on Saturday as I had to go back to Chicago to work on
Saturday--which was hectic and with not a lot of hands to get everything done. I originally could not get a ticket until Sunday night, but got lucky by waking
up very early a couple of days before Thanksgiving and getting a booking. We had an icy kind of snow overnight in Champaign and I suspect the same kind of
thing in Chicago.

I think most of it was lucky guessing Betsy!!!
Good news for DS's situation re his rental problems. They're safely in their new flat and their old landlord compromised with 1 weeks extra rent and they found an old email where he did originally agree to that so at least they don't have worries about ongoing double payments hanging over them. Everything is settled and they can get on with life without worrying about weird flatmates and dodgy landlords! Snow!! I would really love to experience a white Christmas - we're expecting 25C today - tshirts and jandals sort of weather! But whatever the weather I suspect the feeling for December is just as you descibe Jill, wherever we are! Barb

Barb, Glad to hear your ds's landlord issue worked out. Definitely sounded dodgy. Sounds like he had good weather for his move. Who is Alison? and why does
everyone have her recipe? ;)
Snowy here too, icy roads but I managed to get milk home. Hmm, I'm eating mint m&m's. Not very good. Maybe they need to be mixed with dark chocolate ones so it's not so very minty. Or peanut ones so they're not so very sweet.

Barb, glad your son prevailed. One less thing to worry about YAY. There's no way I would have done as well on a civics test for your beautiful country. Be
proud!
Olle, mint m&ms? eww remember that chocolate mint laxative? or didn't your parents ruin your life with that ewwww I forget the name of it--blocked it out, so to speak I debated whether it was too soon to put up the snow scene background, but after hearing what's happening in Michigan, Chicago, and Colorado, I figured I was right on time. Here we had blah rain

Hope everyone had a good holiday. Mine went like this: Wednesday driving home was stop and go traffic on the highway and I rear-ended someone. Luckily I was
going slow, it was a big van with a trailer hitch and I got the hitch through the bumper but no major damage and he go no damage at all. Then we had a great
Thanksgiving and weekend and while leaving a shopping center yesterday afternoon I got rear-ended, majorly. I couldn't believe it, I have never been in an
accident before this and then 2 in 4 days! My car is really bad, un-drivable and I'm waiting for the appraiser to come out on Wednesday. I'm thinking
they may total it since the damage is pretty bad and the car is only worth about $4500. I didn't get majorly hurt, a nice bump on the head (I was stopped
to yield to on coming traffic so I think I had my head turned looking out the side window and knocked it on that) and some whiplash on my neck, a sore bicep,
and TMJ soreness in my jaw. Went to the Dr today just to get checked and she gave me some muscle relaxants. No one else was hurt and the other car, a jeep,
didn't seem to have any real damage. But, get this, Rob called the police when it happened, they asked if we needed an ambulance and when he said no they
said, "what do you need us for then, just exchange information"!! Do you believe that! I wish I was more alert at the time and the one who called.
Hopefully, this isn't one of those "things happen in 3s" situations.
Oh I meant to say how I much I liked the sunset photo in the last thread. That was Kathy, right? I wish I could get such nice shots!

Good grief Courtney--something else to be thankful for: that you're reasonably ok. Take care though, sometimes that type of injury hurts more days later
than it does at first. I was happy to see your name posting because I'd been wondering what you're up to--but I was hoping for a different kind of
news. Geesh

Good grief Courtney! Yes, be careful. I had a similar injury once, thought I was OK, but later on it really hurt (I'd completely twisted my neck and back).

Good Grief Courtney! (I'll get that "three thing" out of the way here so you don't need to worry about it any longer!) I'm so sorry to
hear this! I hope that you don't hurt for much longer! Be careful!!
Good news, Barb, on the ds's rental difficulties. We're so happy that it's been resolved and he and his partner can get on with life w/out worrying any further! I hope your dh can have a happy ending to his career problems. They are the worst! Been there, done that and have the scars to prove it, alas! Fortunately, we're done with that now but that #@*% lasted for us for way, WAY too long! Here's to a shorter and better resolution to his worries! Karen! I want to hear about the sun and the sea and your Mexican holiday! Did you have a wonderful time?!

Oh Courtney, so sorry to hear about your fender bender/fender destroyer. I thought insurance companies demanded a police report? That's what has been
drilled into my head. Unless you're in a no-fault state? clueless, that's me. Sure hope you feel better soon. New car for you....going to get a Jeep?
(sorry, was it too early for that joke?)
Brrrrrr. However, it's fun to watch the dog bound up and over the snow. His fur is long so it leaves neat trails.

Not too early Olle, I'm always up for a laugh! I can't believe you have enough snow for a dog to bound through!
I'll add my phew to all the rest Barb. That landlord sounded really sketchy. Is there a higher up agency you can report him to or anything like that? Might help some other young people from being mistreated in the future.

Oh yes, we have snow. More is falling right now as a matter of fact. I just had the dog out for a walk/run. Mostly him running and me walking. Now he's
pulling snow out of his fur, once it clumps around his long fur it's very hard to get out. I melt most of it using a towel and my hands. He always finds
some I missed. I'll be out later with the kids to shovel the driveway/sidewalks. Hmm, wonder what's in the house for dinner?
Help! I'm trying to change from that tree pic. I have a pic in my images file but can't figure out how to make it the picture you guys see instead of the tree. There's no easy help button or something that says "check this box to make this your Yuku image" Argh! I know it's super simple but nothing is working for me. Ok I found something that said to click on edit, etc. We'll see if it works....

olle, it's not obvious enough to be easy, so here goes:
click on the picture you want to use in Images; then copy the absolute url address. Go to edit your profile, and paste the url into the space for use this image (or whatever it actually says) and SAVE. There might be an easier way, but that's the way I do it.

Betsy, there really isn't a lot to tell about our trip to Mexico because we didn't do anything. In other words, we did exactly what I wanted to do
which was lay on the beach all day every day. (That's only a slight exaggeration as we did spend an hour or so at the mercado one day searching out the
best price on Mexican vanilla.) We drank a lot of foo-foo drinks, hubby ate at least a skewer a day of grilled mahi-mahi which they sell up and down the beach
from the little restaurant next door, and I read a lot under the umbrella. That was it ... and it was wonderful! My only regret is coming home.
I did frequently wish that our grandson was with us, even though I don't think I have the stamina to keep up with him all day every day for an entire week. But he *loves* water and is at that age where he is so filled with wonder; one of the few expressions he has down pat is "Oh, wow!" and I would have loved to have seen the ocean and the pool and everything else through his eyes -- even though he's too young right now to be able to remember it.

Courtney, echoing what everyone is saying... Be cautious! Many times, injuries like that, involving nerves, take awhile to manifest their full severity.
Here's hoping everything is good with you, though, and that you'll get a new car out of this.
