The book was hard to follow -- at first. But I loved it. Can't imagine how they'll handle all those time jumps in a movie. I noticed a poster for it
outside the new theater down the hill. Oddly, that theater has no outside signage for what's currently playing; it just opened though, so maybe that's
still in the works.

Karen, the trailer showed him disappearing and reappearing (if that helps).
Odd that there are no posters for the movie that's playing. Must've got lost in the mail. I saw Harry Potter Saturday. The supporting cast is marvelous (love the way Alan Rickman draws out his words for maximum malevolence). Sadly, Daniel Radcliffe still can't act.

Sadly, Daniel Radcliffe still can't act.And neither can the girl playing Ginny - completely wooden and lifeless acting. My dd can do better than that!

However, my dd says that Emma Watson is the hot new fashion icon actress, a la mode of Nicole Kidman, etc.

But Emma plays Hermione, not Ginny, right?

The kids and I saw HP too and my dd and I thought Emma/Hermione did a good job in the movie, more so than Harry or Ron. Ginny was barely in it and it seemed
98% of her role was
so I'm not sure if I agree she was wooden, as she had so little to do. It's a long movie but of course a lot was left out and some bits added in
which made no sense to me, what was point
?
I know not everyone has read the books so I'd be interested in hearing what they make of these movies. do they make sense?

It seems like they really did a good job of staying on track for the first 3 movies but not so much in this latest one. My family and I are thinking- well
maybe it will make sense when the last ones come out........................

See, this is the good side of crs; I don't even notice what is missing and what is changed. I enjoy the movie for what it is now and had no idea there was
any reason to be miffed. :)

Sandra-
Sometimes I think we should just keep movies and books separate- they never seem to completely satisfy. |

I think that's true, PBee. I liked the movie Angels and Demons a lot but I had not read the book. Sandra

We went to see Harry Potter the other day. All I could think of was what I could have done with the $42.00 instead of wasting it at the movies. I know it is
not possible to put everything into a movie but they seemed to miss the most important points IMO. Instead of Harry discovering who Tom Riddle was it was just
announced at the very start of the movie. Everyone else in the theater seemed to love it so I guess it was just me. My husband did comment that Harry is a
lousy kisser so I got a laugh at least!

Deb, what part are you referring to? Harry already knew Tom was Voldemort in the 2nd book. Was there more info blurted out in the beginning of the movie that H
shouldn't have known yet? (I don't remember the beginning.)

It's been a while since I read the book so perhaps my memory is deceiving me but I thought Harry visited the house where Tom grew up numerous times before
he figured out that Tom and Voldemort were one and the same. It was completely left out of the movie. Maybe I am confusing my books? The Half Blood Prince was
not my favorite anyway because of all the snogging. The movie was full of snogging too. Perhaps I'm not being fair to it but then again it's just my
opinion!

I think you are confusing them, but hey, there's a lot of stuff there........Harry knew Tom was Voldemort in The Order of the Phoenix, I think and all the
house visiting takes place in Deathly Hallows HOWEVER, I could be mixed up too!

Well, in 'The Chamber of Secrets' he meets Tom Riddle while Ginny lies at their feet and Tom tells him he's Voldemort. Does that help with who knew
what when? The only reason I remember this is because I started rereading the books after we saw the latest movie. Otherwise I wouldn't have had a clue.
Tom grew up in an orphanage and Harry never visited it. Dumbledore was there and we see that memory when Harry sees it. Any help? Snogwarts Indeed! lol

When the movie arrives at the library I'll rewatch it with fresh eyes. I already like it better knowing that it was my memory that was off and not the
sequence in the movie. I'm not a good movie goer anyway. I get twitchy and it's hard not to trade snarky comments with my dd. I do like the popcorn
though!

LOL Deb. A new theater opened up close to home just recently and hubby swears we're going to go see the new HP. That will be a first -- he and I in a movie
theater -- and we'll just see if it actually happens. I'm not a good movie goer either.

My daughter brought INKHEART home from the library. I only read the first few chapters of the book so I'm not sure how close the movie was but overall I
liked it. It was jarring that the book the father was searching for for 9 years was a paperback. Kind of an anticlimax for anyone who really likes books! (plus
there was only one printing of the book so how could the bad guy have a hard cover and the good guy a paperback? Nitpicker, that's me!)
