BBCA = BBC America, and U-verse is AT&T's cable service (Cox cable didn't offer BBCA, but U-verse does)

Oh rats, I don't get BBC America on Comcast. Phoooooey. I've resisted paying the extra for the digital package since I get so many darn channels now
that I watch too much.
Thanks for 'splaining. |

I know what you mean, I was so happy when we got 'On Demand' and yet I still find that there is frequently nothing interesting
to watch. TV is soothing for my husband so I have it on pretty much most of the day so even if I'm not watching I'm still hearing it from some other
part of the house.

Well, we all enjoyed the movie, my husband, my daughter (25), son (20), grandson (4) and myself. The book is quite short so obviously
they had to make a story around it and we liked the story. The wild things are exactly as drawn in the book and the filming of them and their mobility despite
their enormous size was done well. My daughter and I had little happy tears at the end. My grandson wasn't scared in any parts, he may not have understood
all the story, but enough that he was interested for the whole movie.

Loved 'Up'......... quite short, very funny but poignantly sad as well. Good for kids and adults alike.

Today at last i watched the last "Matrix" film. Now, i don't like hyperbolic statments, but i have to say that IMO those two sequels are one of
the worst ever.

Heard them talking about the new Disney version of A Christmas Carol on a radio call-in program today. One guy said he took his 5-year old son and it
seriously scared him; also said he saw three other families with small children leave the theater. All reported it's very, very dark. Not for the little
ones, apparently.

Old Walt must be spinning. What is the point of scaring the wee ones? Oh silly me, moola.
David saw the Fourth Kind and was quite spooked by it--kind of done in documentary style from what he said.

I know a 13 yo who saw it and said she had to bury her face in her da's shoulder for one of the ghosts. And this is not a timid kid. I don't mind
spooky or creepy but is the movie really done well? If I'd walk out thinking they'd done a great job then it might be worth seeing.

One of the two callers I heard on the radio today thought it was very well done -- he had gone with teenagers and seen it in 3D. He gave it 4 stars; the guy
with the 5-year old gave it 3.5.
And that's all I heard. It was a fairly short drive! :)

Hey, went to see "Blind Side" and really liked it. So did the teen I was with. The rest of the group went to see New Moon and said it was better than
the first in that series.

Did you cry in "Blind Side"? My daughter and I think it looks like a tear jerker, happy tears though.

There were some teary moments. The teen I was with said her mom would have to bring a box of tissues to get through the movie.
speaking of this movie, I watched the movie show last night (the one that replaced Siskel & Ebert) and the 2 guys on it said to not watch it. I understood their reasons and, for at least one of them, the teen and I discussed that very thing on the way home. But we still liked it. Could it have been better? yes, for sure. One of the comments they made had to do with the character played by Sandra Bullock and how they didn't see a change in her due to this experience. However, for all they know the real-life person was a caring, compassionate woman who'd not hesitate to help someone else she didn't know. In which case how much of a difference would there be to see? couldn't it just be a deepening of the sympathy she had already? Should the screenwriter had made something up? It made me want to skim the book to see if the book documents some kind of change the movie could have shown. However, as I told my son today I am paying $$ a year to get the newspaper to read the funnies. So much is so bad it's too much for me. And if this movie left me feeling there are good people in the world and that this movie could create hope for others in Michael's situation it was worth seeing. |
