A little google action and I came up with this guy: http://www.cse.ucsd.edu/~mshonle/ Kevin Bacon was in A Few Good Men with Noah Wyle who was in Donnie Darko with Gary Lundy who was in Burning Annie, which was associate produced by this guy who went to Clark! Saw in Shelf Awareness that a new indie called The Bookery Nook has recently opened in Denver so I plan to check that out tomorrow -- not today, even though today is Buy Indie day. I'll likely buy something there just 'cuz. The space is beautifully done but the shelves for general fiction take less space than my fiction shelves in my own house! Whoever ordered their books should belong to this group because I swear I'd either read or had on my shelves at least 85% of what was on offer. I bought a couple of children's books and my first two Jonathon Carroll's -- since I've heard Jill rave and haven't ever sampled. I had to buy something, you know. 05/03/09 07:50 AM	Sandra I listened to Gentlemen of the Road in audio format a couple months ago. It's rollicking and fun, though I sometimes became lost in all the characters. That's probably because I was just listening in the car. I'm sure I would have been more focused if I had the book in my hands. It's an adventure, with lots and lots of action, twists and turns. He has three kinds of books to my mind: one the almost fairy tale (to which LOL belongs); then there's his darker side, which is quite intriguing (Voice of OUr Shadow, After Silence, From the Teeth of Angels), and his later incarnation including the Crane's View novels, which I think begin with Kissing the Beehive, but The Wooden Sea and White Apples are more closely related. You should probably read the Wooden Sea before White Apples; I think the characters continue from one to the other. Btw, I won the Holy Grail of Carroll books from Carroll himself: a signed first edition of Land of Laughs. A true treasure. If you don't care for Land of Laughs, try his later books; they're quite different. Oh, and I won't be upset if you don't like him. I had to make several tried to get into Outside the Dog Museum, but once I did, it became one of my faves. "The phone rang and it was God calling, again." 05/04/09 10:32 AM BCC ZEN Bookie MASTER	Olle, I think about half the store consisted of general fiction, mystery/thriller, sci fi/horror, romance and children's books. The other half was non-fiction of various categories which I looked at only briefly. I do NOT need another non-fiction volume to languish unread on my shelves. The blog attached to their web site said the initial shipment received before they opened on April 1 was 5,000 volumes. It also surprised me that there wasn't more than one copy of almost anything! I did see 3 copies of The House on Mango Street but that was the only one. 05/08/09 10:27 AM	My trip to the book store yielded the following: Burning Bright by Tracy Chevalier The Inheritance of Loss by Kiran Desai The Uncrowned Queen by Posie Graeme- Evans (once I got this home I noticed it is the third in a trilogy of which I have not read the first 2, oh, well that's a good excuse for another trip to the book store!) I have already started Burning Bright. I have read The Girl with the Pearl Earring and The Lady and the Unicorn by Tracy so I am looking forward to this one. In the case of good books, the point is not how many of them you can get through, but rather how many can get through to you. Mortimer J. Adler
