Sandra read this one early, so hard to resist LOL, and suggested these chapter breaks for us. I'll be setting up threads soon.

Thanks for the breaks Sandra, I actually penciled in the word at the top of those chapters so I'll know to stop and think/post at the time. I think I'm
the first one to be sent this book from the library, love new books!

Olle, I love that too. So much fun to think you are the first one to read it and so many others will follow. It's a different feeling with a new book you
have purchased. Have fun!

You're WRITING in a library book? For shame! LOL
I started the book today, while sitting out on the brisk beach. Book starts in hot, sweltering summer weather by a Canadian lake -- I figured, my "brisk" beach was probably the same! I had no problems feeling right in the environment!

Oops I got way ahead, had a battle with insomnia last so I read. Ok, I didn't think that was who was going to get bumped off!
Quebec is where I grew up so it is fun to read the descriptions of the scenery, the French interspersed, the reference to Anglos, Quebecois, etc. The only thing- not enough mosquitoes! LOL |

It was in pencil, and very lightly. But otherwise I don't see how I'd remember when to pause and look up.
Nice to be in the summer heat when here is just, well, isn't. Let me assert my firm belief that the only thing we have to fear is fear itself - nameless, unreasoning, unjustified terror which paralyzes needed efforts to convert retreat into advance, in every dark hour of our national life a leadership of frankness and vigor has met with that understanding and support of the people themselves which is essential to victory. --Franklin Roosevelt |

I would have edited my last post but can't....
I know it's a trifle early Jill, but would you create the other threads for this book? It has to go back to the library soon and I'm afraid I'll forget what my notes mean. :) |

Jane, too funny, that's exactly what I came in to say! Boy do I love the atmosphere and the characters she writes. And the way she makes the buildings
characters to by imbuing them with such strong characteristics. Right from the Prologue the mansion is part of our psyche. Happy Happy Happy

I am starting today. I thought I'd lost the book, but found it under some clothes. Maybe I should hang those up, heh?
I wasn't sure I could read with you, but the best thing happened this week. I do not need the Humanities class that is killing me by sucking up my free time, so I dropped it today. WOOHOO! I feel great! Looking forward to being back in Three Pines. Quebecois <<< does this mean - from Quebec? I love Canada.
