First blush response, a good solid 3.
I definitely will try another of hers, either Restoration or Music & Silence probably. Thanks Barb.

I would give this one a 3.5 - I really liked it.
I've already started Music and Silence, and I must say I like this one even better than The Colour. I think she has a marvelous knack for developing her characters and getting into their minds/worlds. I bought Restoration too, so that is sitting here on mount TBR for some future reading. So sorry I missed the chat on Saturday! I ended up sleeping on the couch and missed our discussion, again. ugh! 3. I liked it (especially Harriet), but I kept mentally comparing it to Secret River (which I found more compelling).

Jodi has echoed my thoughts exactly. A 3 from me too.

3. I wish I had been able to make the chat. I just found a f2f group and I am going to recommend Colour for the next read.

It'd be awesome if we could arrange a chat online with Ms. Tremain. Do you think we'd have enough to ask her?

I guess I'm ruining the consistency. I didn't care for the first part that much and almost didn't continue. I liked it better after a while. So, my vote will be 2.75. Rema |
