I am not sure how to rate this one, 3 with a big caveat? A solid read for me but not one I would recommend to just anyone.

2-3 - glad I read it, mostly enjoyed it - loved the language - but I can't see myself saying to anyone else that they have to read it.

Tough to rate in some ways because what I did read of it was lush and left me feeling I'd been talking with a painting, but I couldn't finish and
wouldn't recommend it almost anyone, so...? 2 maybe?

I barely got started with this one. I just could not get into it even though I tried to listen to it and then to read it. I will go with the system and give it
a 0, but that might not be fair.
This rating thing is hard. I hate to trash someone's hard work, especially when I know that tons of people will love it. I'm just not one of the tons.

I'm in the same boat as you, Mary. I think the writing, wording, etc... was wonderful. I enjoyed his ideas regarding "I" vs "we" and
religion. I loved the Arabian Nights feel in the beginning. But the story became a confusing quagmire for me. And for me it is all about the story. I finished
by skimming mostly because (nut that I am!) I wanted to know what the ick factor was! I'll go with a 1.

This is tough. I didn't finish it, but as Debbie said, I did like the Arabian Nights feel at the start of the book. Certainly can't recommend it to
anyone. ("Here, read the first 50 pages of this book. Just don't read the rest?").
1, I guess.

I agree with Sandra, while I enjoyed it I wouldn't recommend it to just anyone. So I give it a qualified 3.

Yep - I'm the 1 camp.
Side note: I rewatched "Bridget Jones' Diary" last night... and I completely forgot that Rushdie had a cameo appearance in the movie!
