Who wait...what are the reasons? I didn't try this one so I'm even more curious. I thought the ratings would be higher from what I heard.

I rethought mine as soon as I hit "reply" since I really did enjoy it more than that. May I change mine to a 3?

You're entitled to change your mind Betsy !
A 3.5 from me - I found it a convincing and engaging read and have recommended it to several of my friends who are enjoying it also. |

I'm giving it a 1, even though I didn't finish. I lost interest. I didn't care for the story line that was telling BY's 19th. I don't get
it when people tell the story of another book. I'd rather just read the book that is being written about. Does that make sense?
Also, the story about the murder was a yawn. Maybe it was me.....

I've already told several friends about it too, Chris and recommended it to them. So far I haven't been able to drum up a lot of enthusiasm from them
but I'll continue to try. I know dd Tucker will read it and like it as much as I did!

I would give it a 3, also. I thought it was a pretty good story, well told and I enjoyed the historical story as much, if not more, than the modern story.

I'll go with a 3 as well. I enjoyed the murder part of the story. I learned a lot from the retelling of the historical 19th wife. Personally I know that I
would never have picked up her book so getting the gist of her life in novel form worked well for me. I never thought of the parallel between being a woman and
being homosexual till I read these boards. With that in mind the tie in works much better. I just felt the author wanted to hit 2 rights movements with one
stone so to speak. Still a bit ambitious for a first novel. (at least I think this was a first?)

I found a copy in the Ship's library so I was able to read it. I liked it enough to rate it a 3. In fact, when I was carrying the book, another person
saw it and asked me about it and I told her it was a very good read. The mystery ending was a little flat.

The mystery ending was a little bit flat, or at least a letdown as I recall. But, overall, for the history and certain aspects of the modern story, it was
pretty good. You must have thought so, too, eh Rema?
(I've been wanting to use that 'eh' for the longest time. Almost every day when I go to work there is a car in the parking lot with Wisconsin plates and a bumper sticker that says "Say hey to da U.P, eh?" Always cracks me up.
