Oh Pb, so glad they put it out. Do they leave someone behind to ensure it doesn't restart? HOw could you fall asleep until you walk all over the area to
make sure it nice and wet and cold and out? Yikes.

It's been my experience that they do leave someone but I think I'll just take a walk before I go to bed to make sure......

Dry, hot weather? What is that? That's our usual summer condition but, not this year!
Strange, strange, strange but I have to confess I'm enjoying it. I can't remember, in my long, long lifetime, another year when we've had so much RAIN!

Ok, guys, I need a book recommendation, an 'everybody lived happily ever after' kind of book. We saw my husband's doctor today and he told me that
my husband's ALZ is progressing very quickly. He is entering the stage where no known drugs are going to effective. So I need happy thoughts, happy
thoughts....

Oh Deb, I'm soo sorry to hear that.
Happy thoughts... I haven't read it yet, but it sounds like Sweetness at the Bottom of the Pie might do or the Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society.

Deb, what a shame, I'm so sorry. I'm not sure what would make a happy read for you but there's a funny mystery series whose author used to visit
with us. Her books were the basis for the sisterhood between me and Mary and we adopted Betsy as our third made up sister. The author is Anne George and the
series is the Southern Sisters Mysteries. "Patricia Anne "Mouse" Hollowell, a retired English teacher, and Mary Alice "Sister" Crane,
who out-lived three husbands, in Alabama" They're shortish and silly funny. The first in the series is
Murder on a Girls' Night Out (1996) 1996 Agatha Award for Best First Novel Finalist 1997 Macavity Award for Best First Novel Another that's a woman's funny revenge novel is Rootie Kazootie by Lawrence Naumoff--try the library. If you prefer the chick lit genre, I can't help but I'm sure someone here can. Failing that, I can do my Snoopy Dance for you and you'll laugh yourself silly.

Thanks guys, I almost picked up Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society at Costco the last time I was there. Which ever of these books I find first
I'll go with.

Deb, I'm sorry. When I was going through some hard times, the Mitford books by Jan Caron helped a lot. Don't be put off if they are in the religion
section of the bookstore because although the main character is a priest (?), the books are not overly or overtly religious. They take place in a town much
like the Louise Penny town and always have happy endings.

Pb, I'm sure that I speak for everyone when I send my sympathies for your dh's terrible condition. What a crummy bit of bad luck you both are having! I
hope that Sweetness/Pie would help and I love Jill's suggestion of the Anne George books! They are delightful and fun! I recently intro'd my dd to the
one I have and she loved it! The sisters have the best relationship and the books are fun to read!
Take care of yourself at the same time that you give so much attention and love to your dh. That sentence is awkward but I think you know what I mean.

Sandra, I have read one of the Mitford books and really liked it, kind of forgot about them so that's another good suggestion.
Yes, I know what you mean, today, I have not really done anything, no housework, nibbled for dinner, just sat around and felt sorry for myself but "tomorra's anutha day.." Did you all get that? That's was me trying to Scarlett.

Yes, Deb, we got it and understood your mood too. There's not a lot wrong with a pity party now and again; you can feel sorry for yourself and feel no
guilt. We do hope that we can help you avoid that constant state if we can. Have a peanut butter/jelly sandwich for dinner too while you're at it but
accept friends' invitations if you can get away from your responsibilities without that same feeling. Do you have help? How much help? Line up as much as
you can right away!
Why am I saying these things? I'm obviously preaching to the converted already and I apologize for it. Please drop in here as often as you're able and read some of the more upbeat books. Forget anything dark and heavy of course. Hey, you can read True Romance and comic books for all we care! Escape fiction is called for at times like these, right? Jill will Snoopy Dance for you and we'll all enjoy the show. Just remember, we have your back and will be here whenever you can drop by.

DebBee, just chiming in here to add my support re: your husband's prognosis and all that means for you and your family -- which I can't really even
fathom, quite frankly. But we will always be here for you even if to just lighten the moment with a new book, and even if I'm very awkward about it.
Other people here are much more elegant than I as I'm sure you know.

Hi Chris, it was gorgeous - about 19 at our house this afternoon and a good weekend on the way with any luck. What about you?
It's good to see nice weather - it's been so cold and we've been doing our bit for the birds - here's the view from our living room -

Beautiful pic Barb--what kind of birds are they? And now does that mesh bag work? They feed through the mesh but other critters can't get access? Our
squirrels would just abscond with the whole bag, so I'm curious.
I didn't realize non-woodpeckers feed upside down too. Pretty.

What would we do without google?! Nuthatches are the only birds in N. America that can walk DOWN tree trunks! Curt and I were just admiring Barb's photo of
her adorable birds and discussing your question, Jill. I looked up the answer since we had those birds but couldn't remember their name. lol. Google to the
rescue!
Yes, please, what sort of birds are those big-eyed greenish birds, Barb?

I don't know about walking down, but eating upside down is definitely a woodpecker thang, I watch them do it.

It looks like a suet mixture. Birds love that and it's easy to make yourself at home and after its chilled, can be hung in an onion bag such as the one
seen above! (hint: birdseed and suet mooshed together).
