So please tell me that I am not the only one who listens to music and eats and drinks according to what book I happen to be reading. For example, my current
mystery talks a lot about Scotch whiskey and the distillation process, so I had to put it down, get myself down to my liquor storage and see if I had any. I do
and so I poured myself a wee bit and am enjoying it while I read the book. I also drink a lot of Cinzano when reading the Louise Penny books, and I eat a lot
of toast and jam when reading Maisie Dobbs. The last mystery I was reading centered around a Gregorian chant - good thing I had some on my Ipod. With all the
English mysteries I have been reading, I have been drinking tons of tea (but I can't get myself to drink it sweet). Jill, remember when we were reading
that book about the piano tuner somewhere in the tropics and they kept talking about a certain piece and I went out and bought the CD and sent you a copy?
And this book also uses food as a plotline. Yum. "Highland whiskey cremes... It's shortbread, topped with an ice cream made with fresh cream and flavored with whiskey and honey..." If I had the stuff, I would go make that one right now. Maybe we need a "food and books" thread?
Jill, Genesis sounds interesting, like some of those books for older kids, The Giver and the like. Is it an adult book or young adult? Would it be suitable for AJ? Okay, maybe I will just have to go check it out for myself and maybe read it. Thanks for letting us know.
