Jill, hope you don't mind but once I posted the breaks in the What I'm Reading thread I just had to pop in here and do the same thing!

OK, I admit it....I have no clue at this point who could have bumped off Ruthven! If I had to pick at this point, I'm going with either Jeffrey, the
'secretary,' or Natalie (is that her name?), the pregnant girlfriend. For NO other reason than everyone in the family would have an equally solid
motive, so I think it's going to be one of the people on the outer ring.

I have no clue either. My first chose is Jeffery. Something is going down in the wine celler. The manuscript which Albert still has in his pocket is going
to mean something. My other thoughts is Paulo who is he really, I know he is Mrs. Romano's son but something else is up. He is always listening in on
everyone. Maybe he really knows Violet.

Ooo interesting ideas. I haven't a clue either.
As I was reading I thought these might be significant:

I thought the victim may have been Sir Adrian himself, such an unlikeable person! I was surprised it was Ruthven. Sarah and Albert loathed him intensely, but
with enough malice to kill him? I'm not so sure.
Lillian is too indifferent about Ruthven to really care. Maybe it ties in with the manuscript being hidden in the basement, if it was deliberately hidden there and if so why and by whom. Was Ruthven about to expose a secret ? Onwards. |

I don't know the standard, so even though I'm in the middle of the next section, I'm posting here (to avoid spoilers, more than anything else). I
don't know if it's just that I don't have much reading time, or if it's the story, but it seems to be slowing down .... I'm not as
interested as it was when I first started reading. And I still have no idea who committed the murder!

No clue, I'm guessing it's Paolo just because I'm guessing and it doesn't appear to be one of the family. I think the furrowed brow of Sarah is
a red herring.

I think there is something fishy going on between Sarah and Albert ref p48 "Something would have to be done about Albert" thinks Sarah.
Albert as a suspect however is a bit too obvious as he clearly states "I'll kill that shit some day".

I have no clue at this point but I do think the manuscript being some kind of tell-all is a good idea. Perhaps it is Violet, she may
not realize what an A Adrian is and that he writes his kids out of his will all the time and she wants to ensure more of it (money) for herself.

At this point it is still unknown to me who murdered Ruthven but I am going to guess George as he then would be the oldest and is giving his father a
grandchild.

Why oh why do we have to lose a post when we are not logged in? I despise that about YUKU!
ok, trying to reconstruct--- As usual, I have no idea who is responsible. I am surprised that Ruthven is dead. Shouldn't that make the title be Death of the Son of a Cozy Writer? Perhaps Sir Adrian will also bit the dust. Jill, I agree that the book has an old feel. Maybe it's because the character names seem old fashioned. I haven't read as may mysteries as most of you. Do you think it took a long time for someone to die?

Mary, I'm often surprised that it takes nearly half the book for someone to die in a murder mystery. Lots of set-up I guess but sometimes it seems
excessive. Makes it particularly difficult in this game to pick breaks if no one has read the book beforehand.

I have a strong feeling that it's Violet and you'll all think I've lost my marbles when I tell you why: author has made a point of saying she had a
"strong back" and again and again that her hands are masculine etc. I think that Vi is a "tranny", a transexual. It didn't hurt that
the only tranny I know is named Violet so it jumped into my head right off the bat! You know that she would have all the "attributes" of a woman so
she could be a married woman. At some point, her dhs might figure it out too and that could lead to VIolence. (heehee. sorry). She wants the money and so if
she bumps off the front runner in the Heir Contest after her dh rewrote his will and then bumps off her dh, she's likely to inherit the lion's share if
not all the money, right?
Okay, that's my guess for now. I gather that this time we're all seeing each other's posts on the subject?
