Happy times indeed. This body is quite a puzzle, isn't it? I have no sense of "who" dun this at this point. I'm just enjoying the read.

I read the first chapter on line. Very dark opening. I was sucked right in and now I'm chomping at the bit for the book. The first 5 people on the library
waiting list read it in less time combined than this last one. Hurry Up!!

It is nice being back in Three Pines isn't it? I don't mind when Louise takes us away but it's neat to return.

Its great to be inhaling the atmosphere of 3 Pines, pity about that darn body turning up. Early focus on the new owners of Hadley House - be inteeresting to
find out more about these folk and how bent is Marc's resentment of Olivier?

I don't understand why Olivier didn't just tell Gamache that he knew the man. He has seen enough investigations that he should know that it will come
out and it will look bad when it does. I don't think for an instant that O is guilty;he looks too suspicious.

I love love love being back in Three Pines and I'm so excited to "see" Clara's new paintings. Louise describes them so well, I feel like I
almost can see them. Who do you think the third woman is? It makes me want to reread the one about the three graces.
Anyhoo, I think I might have stumbled on what's going on, but I don't want to ruin things for you if I'm right. Hope that doesn't sound arrogant--it was just something that jumped out at me and I made an instant connection in a fluky way. The clue came during an interview--I'll leave it at that for now and I promise to tell if I'm wrong. I suspect the title is a clue too, as it usually is. What's the title in the UK? As for Olivier not telling Gamache. Really! It's so silly of him. But I do wonder if maybe he somehow brought the body to the bistro? I don't think he killed him or even knows who did. And I'm not sure he even knows who the Hermit really was. But maybe out of a desire to sort of protect his friend from going undiscovered? That sounds dumb because why would he take a chance on damaging the reputation of his lovely bistro. But maybe he had no where else to put him indoors without implicating one of his friends? He could have found him already dead when Olivier turned back into the woods to get his memento. ok well that's me weaving a whole lot of something out of nothing but having such a good time. Gooey brie anyone? |

I'll confess I read the other posts but I'm still in the dark about who murdered the Hermit. I don't think Olivier had any thing to do with it but it was stupid for him to lie. He should have realized from past encounters with Gamache, that he solves crimes. I'll take a big leap and wonder if Marc and his family who are newcomers to Three Pines may be involved. This mystery is hard to put down. "Make it a rule of life never to regret and never to look back" Fortune cookie saying Rema |

I am excited about being in Three Pines also. Our weather in changing and the Chedder Cheese and Apple soup is sounding good. I am not sure who did it also.

Well, this is from the notes I made last night when we couldn't get in to post:
Olivier looks suspicious, but surely not! And surely not the Hadley house -- again! The Czech family and whoever is in the Hadley house are the only new folks in town thus far so it's either them or someone we haven't met yet. How can this guy live in a structure in the woods for 10 years and no one knows it's there? It can't really be that far from town since Olivier walks it round trip twice in one night. And how could they not have known immediately that was was killed elsewhere? No matter how much internal bleeding there was, scalp wounds bleed a lot! Or so the mystery novels say.

Oh, and apple and cheddar soup... Louise really *must* stop describing all these delicious meals... unless she's willing to at least provide recipes!
