Fascinating but a bit hard to follow as Mantel doesn't always identify who is talking or the background history. It's really good enough to try and of course the history is powerful. It's the point at which Henry VIII decides to ditch Katherine for Anne Boleyn so he can have a son and the involvement of Thomas Cromwell. The comments I've seen from others who have read it were quite positive, but I don't know their usual taste. I guess it comes down to feeling it's a 'should' read and I never have a good attitude about those. As Jodi said, we know so much about what happened that's not part of the motivation. I find myself constantly choosing the 'thinner' books lately whereas before -- oh, 20 years ago -- I wouldn't have given a thought to reading a 950 page book. And some of those were my favorites!
