Currently following 3 series: Star Gate - Atlantis Doctor Who - 2005 Battlestar Galactica (new series) and if I had more time, I would follow more!! I started this thread so we can talk/chat about tv science fiction. One think I notice lately is that there is IMO more science-fiction tv than fantasy tv shows... wonder why. Although, I guess you could classify them as scifi, depending on what you consider as going in the fantasy category besides things like Xena and Hercules. Personally, I haven't been watching TV. None of them interest me enough to set aside time to watch it when it's aired. I need tivo so I can record it and save it so I can watch it whenever I want (possibly never, but at least I'd have it). 01/24/06 02:21 PM	I try to watch the shows shown on Friday night (StarGate, SG Atlantis and the new BG). The music is great on BG and really sets the tone. Interesting twist last week, I wonder if it will change a person in more ways than one. I don't watch much of the spooky fantasy stuff as it creeps me out. Give me robots in a faraway land. 01/27/06 06:37 PM	the Wraith are awful. I'm the only one here that watches the show so I am generous with the mute button and don't watch closely when they're on. Definitely the stuff of nightmares. I can understand how BG could invade your sleep as well. The whole robot invasion thing could happen at any time, we just never know. Hey, today's Friday! I better go set the vcr. BTW, don't you love how they swear all the time but the word they use isn't what we'd call a swear word so they can say it, shout it, whisper it, it doesn't matter, no censor can cut it. Well, it's funny to me, not sure what I'd do if my kids started saying it. Not that they will anytime soon as they don't watch the show and won't for a while if I have anything to say about it.... 01/27/06 10:46 PM	Heh. I'm only watching season 1 of Atlantis here and we are about to see the season 1 finale... I think it will be crazy!! SPOILER ALERT - just in case somebody want to be warned!!! Just saw the episode where Teyla and Major Sheppard goes in a mission to investigate the Wraith fleet. They get stuck on a planet where the wraith are "investigating" (read here finding some food - yeah they like humans for food!). So they use the invisility of their ship to stop on the planet and wait... hehe Sheppard can't stay put and goes on investigating but Teyla stays in the invisible ship and a Wraith goes very very near. She sees the wraith but "he" doesn't... scary!!! Now back to BG, the only swear word is "frak" used by Starbuck a lot. Isn't it ? Later, Eric

There are a lot of ways to swear without using swear words, and I think I've used or heard most of them. Although, I guess damn is a swear word. How did certain words become swear words anyway? 03/13/06 02:48 PM	I can't believe Battlestar Gal. won't have another new episode until October. Seems like they only had a few new ones this go-round. Wow! What an ending. BTW, if SG Atlantis wasn't inbetween the other two I'd stop watching it. How can the characters be so stupid when they're supposed to be so smart? Another virus in their computer systems -- the writers need a new story line. Hmm, could be an hour of reading time between the other shows, that would be just fine. Olle Erma Bombeck wrote, "My theory on housework is, if the item doesn't multiply, smell, catch fire, or block the refrigerator door, let it be. No one else cares. Why should you?"

03/13/06 08:36 PM	Haven't watch the final episode of BG yeah I can I manage to not watch it... I would say, the baby hehe anyway I've got them on my computer and look forward to see them on tv. Probably next week... crossed finger! About SG Atlantis, I'm still into the first season. We are 1 year behind here in Canada... and now I gotta wait until autumn I think to see the season 2... oh well, I could maybe download the episode on the internet like I do for BG... I'll see. 03/14/06 12:28 AM BCC Frequent Poster	I usually watch Friday nights on scifi. Stargates and BG. Very good stuff. BG may hire a new writer from one of Star Trek shows wrote some other stuff. Can't remember off hand every thing. Dr Who looks interesting. Been on over Merry Old England already and getting good press. I watch when not too sick. Reading gets hard when you feel really really bad. I am starting to come out of a really bad spell. Hope I can join the chat soon. I miss talking about bks. Take care. Chuck in Ga.

(I'd heard the executives or somebody didn't want to use Harry because there are too many people in the media named Harry right now. Harry Potter, for example. I don't and didn't understand how that was a bad thing, however.) I can't remember whether or not Butcher had any input on the series, but I'm hoping it won't be that bad. It'll be intersting to see if they follow the books or end up doing something else. So, yes, I am planning on trying it out. 01/04/07 09:56 PM	Hello people! I will watch that show for sure. I know that they are also changing some stuff that are, for the most part, minor IMO. If you are into podcasting, try this podcast, The Butcher Block. In the first show, the host talk to Jim about the changes made in the TV series. Some are very interesting. The link is here: butcherblock.libsyn.org/ From that interview (I have no credit), it appear Jim didn't had any input or if some, very minimal. He did visit the set, don't know when but they had already shoot 9 episodes. He is supposed to go back there in January 2007. Biggest changes I think is about Bob and Harry's Staff. I won't say more... Jim also mentionned that the series and his books are independant. You do not need to read the books to understand the series and the books will not use information from the show. So the show can go in one direction that is not similar to the books. Later, Eric
