Nope, I don't watch BG. When you have time, you should check out Heroes. That one is really cool. Shows on NBC and SciFi Channel. It's about a bunch of people all over the world with special genetics that give them special powers. Kind of like X-men.

As for reading, I can't find anything that interests me. I've started rereading the Firekeeper saga by Jane Lindskold, but I started skimming and jumping around in the second book and took some peeks at the beginning and the end of the third and fourth books. Now I don't want to read them. LOL.

There are probably more heroes out there. We just don't know about it. From Chandra Suresh's files, it looks like there were a lot and a lot of them seem to be dead too. (This was in a scene from the latest episode.) What I found kind of surprising was the fact that Nikki and her husband are both heroes. Seems kind of improbable that two talented people would randomly meet.

Let me know what you think of Born in Death. Can you believe she's written 25 books/short stories in that universe?

Happy Holidays, everyone! Are you all busy with Christmas shopping or did you take care of that before Thanksgiving?

I've been watching all the Bones episodes and a bit of anime lately. My reading is still in a slump. Nothing seems to interest me. I did pick up Mistral's Kiss by Laurell K. Hamilton. It's much too short, but ok. I probably found it more ok than other people because I haven't read the previous books in the series for a really long time. Hamilton has turned into an eh author, IMO, now that she mostly only writes sex scenes.

Hamilton isn't really romance either. All of her stories lately are basically some mystery/problem, sex, sex, sex, power, sex, sex, sex, power, solution to mystery, fin. Sex isn't necessarily romance and the way she does it, it definately isn't romance. There might be some romance at the beginning or end of the sex scene, but that's because the characters are talking and further developing the relationship.

I once read a romance author's opinion about sex scenes and how to write them. She basically said that the scene should add something; it should show the character's feelings for each other and possibly even their character.

Hamilton's sex scenes have been too many, too often. There's no real plot anymore. Even if Hamilton did have reasons for the sex scenes and developed or showed something about the characters through them, I think most people would have skipped or maybe skimmed through the scene to get on with the story.

Although, that author's opinion about sex scense makes me wonder about Robert's In Death series. Roberts has a sex scene or two in each book. Do they add or show anything new? I think I'll have to reread the latest books with that in mind. I think I read the beginning of the scene and then skim to the end of the sex scene for Robert's books too. However, I think Robert's scenes have more meaning than Hamilton's. It really helps that Robert's books aren't over 60% sex scenes.
