08/19/05 01:49 PM	My name is Sue, and I'm a Children's Librarian from Mississippi. The last series of books that I read were by Eoin Colfer, his Artemis Fowl series for children...they were great. I was wondering if anyone else has read them and might have suggestions of what to read next. I've finished the latest offering by Rowling, her Harry Potter 6th. I read adult fiction as well.

I've never read the Artemis Fowl series, but if you're looking for young adult fiction, I love the works by Tamora Pierce, Robin McKinley, Patricia McKillip, and Patricia Wrede. I think that book is considered young adult fantasy but I might be wrong. Anyway there is nothing bad for children in this fantasy book, in my opinion. Well, there's Deeds of Paksenarrion by Elizabeth Moon, the Lioness quartet by Tamora Pierce, and Oath of Swords and War God's Own by David Weber. Some other authors that might be good, depending on what you're looking for are Terry Goodkind, Robert Jordan, Tad Williams, Terry Brooks, and George R.R. Martin. 12/14/05 08:54 PM	Hello SerWilliam here. I posted on here briefly a few years ago, but fell out of it. I've been reading Sci/Fi Fantasy steadily for 17 years now. And still love it as much as I always have. I also enjoy talking about books and sharing views about them as well. Right now I'm reading Starman by Sarah Douglass. Pretty good trilogy, not as deep as I prefer, but I like the characters. I'll probably read Knife of Dreams by Robert Jordan next. But have plenty of other choices otherwise. 12/15/05 08:57 PM	Thanks for the welcome I've been reading Fantasy Sci/Fi for about 17 years now. Currently I'm tring to finish all the stories I'm currently in before I start another trilogy. That includes about 6 authors and their current stories. When I'm done I'm interested in starting the Anita Blake novels. Or the Mayfair witches by Anne Rice (already read the vampire ones) It's hard finding the time to read, with a wife and daughter But we always seem to get the books read eventually, don't we? If you like Anita Blake type stories (the first couple books at any rate), you should look into P.N. Elrod and Jim Butcher. They both have some great stuff out there. I have just finished reading all Margaret Weiss books as well as Paoloni's books Eragon and Eldest. I am reading Magyk at present. I am new to this type of site and was wondering how it works. Do we just discuss what we are reading, do we read what you tell us, do we sit back and wait if not reading what you particular like, etc? $:\$ Could use all the help I can get. Also, I am not a youngster at all, just an old grandmother who loves to read and talk about the books I read.

The way this place works is that every three months or so, we have a call for book nominations that we'd like to read together. We then have a vote and whichever books have the most votes will be put on our reading schedule. On the specified date, we have a live chat on AIM. If you can't attend or want to start discussing a book early, you can just start a thread here to talk about it. If you'd like to discuss books you've been reading that aren't on the schedule, just start a new thread or post in the What I'm Reading Now thread.
