Anyone into the Kay Scarpetta series? I've read quite a few, although I have to admit that I had to stop. I started having too many dreams about morgues and agency-related crimes...
But I really enjoy the series. Started somewhere in the middle when I remembered that NoClue recommended Kay Scarpetta to me - I was at an airport bookstore looking for a book to read, and one of these caught my attention. So then I had to go back to the beginning and read all over again... |

Alas, it's a real shame all our history is gone because most people here have been into Scarpetta at one point or another. Although many have also tired of her. I dunno... for me the quirks that initially made Scarpetta an interesting character were finally intensified to the point where she became just plain odd. I've heard nothing good about "Blowfly" and though it's on my shelf, I haven't read it yet.

However, I'm still enjoying Laure R. King's Mary Russell series. She took a misstep with the 2004 release of The Game but her most recent, Locked Rooms, was excellent.

I too was into Scarpetta, but 'Blowfly' and 'Trace' screwed the series for me... the latest 'Predator' isn't much better.
Stick to the earlier books! If you like her, you'll like the author Kathy Reich - I found the first hard, but the second and onwards were great! |

used to love scarpetta but the last few were "off".
LenP2P is right on with Kathy Reich's, really great books. And if you watch any TV she is the Producer of the TV show "Bones", which with her writing is just great mystery TV. Here in the US it is on tuesday nights? at 900. Another set of books that are similar to the autors above are written by Tess Gerritsen. I have only read two of her books The surgeon and Bloodstream. They were okay but I must admit I had other books recently that I would rather read and any recent books she may have at out either the story line didn't sound good or I just had too much reading material already and no time to reach out past my faves. Right now I'm finishing up the 5th Horesman by James Patterson. It is the series with the women's murder club. I like the series a lot. TTFN bookbug |
