SciFi and Fantasy Read - 2007 |

Hello all, Just wondering if anyone has the time to read. Me, the time difficult to find with the job and 2 kids! Anyway, I'm sure I'll get more
reading time later. I've got less time to read but I still have some time. So I just finish, last week, Phule's Paradise, the second book from the
Phule Series by Asprin. It was good although I prefered the first one. For my next read, I wanted to read the following 2 books in that series but I decided to
move on with Blood Rites from the Dresden Files... and actually end up reading a small book that is more horror than scifi and fantasy. It a story about a guy
who doesn't remember is childhood. Actually he has memory since 9 years old and that's it. He's 29 now and he doesn't like horror story until
he read one which is about an horror story with childs. He gets hooked and now he's like searching what happened before 9 years old. So far it is good and
it is kind of easy to guess what happened to him (probably some horrofic accident or thing!) but I'll tell you more once I get there... The next book will
be Dresden one.
Later,

I've been reading mostly mysteries lately (and one giant biography), but I think I'm ready for some SF now. I tried to check out The Dresden Files (tv
show) again but couldn't find it on the schedule. I went and looked at the blog you mentioned and there's also a link to someone who's reading Hugo
and Nebula award-winning novels.

Hi Chuck. No, I don't think the conversations are being cross-posted. It's all on Yuku now, and I think the old threads came along with us. So, pull up
a comfy chair and settle in.

I've been rereading the latest books in the Anita Blake series. The latest book, The Harlequin, was pretty good. It had a plot and very
little sex (compared to Incubus Dreams, or seemed to anyway). It got me interested enough in the characters that I wanted to reread the older
books.

Reading Blood Rites by Butcher. Its book 6 in the Dresden Files... So far... so good! Looks promising. I read somewhere that from book 5 to book 8 (I think
he's writing the 9th but I might be mistaken) the books are getting better and better...

I know Kelvin likes the Dresden Files a lot. He's mentioned some interesting and funny scenes to me. Personally, I can't wait for the next Cursor book.

Hey everyone! I hadn't checked my email in almost a month and, lo and behold, I see that that BCC has moved the board! I haven't even been here in
ages, but the new digs looks great! A little more eye-health friendly, too.
I will say that to reply to Eric's original post, I've actually been finding very little time to read over the last few months. I've gotten a promotion that occupies more time, my wife has also occupied more time, and I find that when I do sit down to read it hasn't been holding my attention like it once did. That could be a function of the specific books I've been reading, though. I'm currently reading The Algebraist, and it's been a rough go for me. Started it a month ago, now, and I'm only about two hundred seventy pages in. Really obtuse novel.

Hmm, if you've only gotten to 270 pages in a month, maybe it's time to abandon that book and look for something else!

The latter one I intend to finish when I'm in the mood to punish myself, and I still have a bookmark in it where I left off three years ago. I REFUSE to let The Algebraist defeat me!

I recently finished Bujold's latest novel, The Sharing Knife: Legacy. Together, I think TSK: Beguilment and TSK: Legacy make a pretty good
romantic fantasy novel. I just wish I had the next two books in the series in my hands. I can't wait for the next book!

Hi! Not really. Can you believe it, all those books and nothing to read? The other day, Kelvin and I met a fellow scifi/fantasy reader and challenged him to
find us a book to read. He failed. We on the otherhand, gave him two! :)
Right now, I'm waiting for Shadows Past by Lorna Freeman to come out. It was supposed to come out on Dec 4, but was pushed back to Jan 8. However, I can't find a listing of it anywhere, so who knows about that publication date. I've been rereading Covenants, The King's Own, and Terrier to tide me over.

Chuck,
I'm sorry to hear you've been sick. Although, not so sick that you weren't able to enjoy reading, were you? I hope you get better soon.

Well that's it. Started reading a book from Ursula Le Guin called... doh can't remember the title. I'll let you know when I finish it which will probably in 2 or 3 months from now!! LOL Happy holidays to everyone!
